Why
pray for peace when most conflicts in the world are fuelled and
caused by religious beliefs, often centred on a single God, but
opposing each other, aiming only to ensure the supremacy of their
religious readings over those of others? How many deaths do we cry
over by imploring God while waging wars in his name instead of
working for the well-being of humanity? How many more deaths will
have to be made before we understand?
Besides,
there is no book written and signed by God. Have you noticed that all
these books that tell us about God have always been written by people
who have heard voices or had visions? Nietzsche himself said he heard
God die in "Thus Spoke Zarathustra". It will be said that
it is fiction, because he was an author and philosopher, but the
others were authors too.
When
we look at it coldly, religion is like a hard drug. Karl Marx was
right when he said that "religion is the opium of the people".
It’s definitely worth discussing in educational institutions.
Religion can easily be used as a tool for manipulation and propaganda
by those who know how to exploit it. Unfortunately, many minds remain
unprotected against its influence.
We
can easily incite them to fight for God, a cunning and manipulative
politician, or even make them easy prey for sexual aggressors who
will know how to make them responsible and guilty for their
misfortunes, as we have seen in several cases of assaults on children
and adolescents by people in authority. You just have to be awake to
see the traces of it in history as in current events. (1) And always
remember that these are beliefs in the same way as the horoscope. If
we are free to believe, why, on the other hand, does religion give
rights unlike the horoscope? (2) We should ask ourselves this
question.

Notes
One
can consider cases of child and adolescent sexual abuse and assault
by religious congregation members, teachers or sports coaches that
have emerged in recent years.
